An 18-Year-Old Becomes the UK's Youngest Lawyer

Breaking scholastic records is a habit for Gabrielle Turnquest. The youngest person to graduate from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, at 16, Turnquest, at age 18, is now the youngest person to pass the Bar of England and Wales exam.

 

"I am honored to be the youngest person to pass the Bar exams but, really, I was not aware at the time what the average age was," she told The Telegraph. "I didn't fully realize the impact of it."

The average age of graduating lawyers from the University of Law's Bar Professional Training Course is 27.

The Windermere, Florida, native also has the opportunity to qualify for the Bahamas Bar, which has been one of her goals being that her parents are Bahamas natives. 

In a press conference, Turnquest said that studying at the University of Law has broadened her perspective on the global legal system and it will help her with a future career in the international fashion industry.

 

She aspires to one day work as a fashion law specialist and plans to study apparel industry management at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in the U.S.

Gabrielle wasn't the only Turnquest at the University of Law. Her sister Kandi also passed her exams at the age of 22.
